Capsulitis

Definition: Capsulitis is a inflammation of the ligaments connecting the metatarsal to the toe bone (phalangeal), usually the second toe. It is a progressive disorder that, left untreated can cause the dislocation of the toe. It may feel as though there is a small pebble in one’s shoe.

Treatment: Dry needling (acupuncture) and orthoses usually solve the problem. In more advanced cases a steroid injection will reduce the inflammation. We can advise on the best footwear during recovery.
