In the United Kingdom, the words Podiatrist and Chiropodist are interchangeable to some extent. Within the profession, however, there is a subtle difference: both are reserved titles and can only be used by someone registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Chiropody suggests routine processes of foot care (nail care, callous removal, treatment of verrucas); Podiatry suggests skills that include techniques such as gait analysis, dry needling, mobilisations and injection therapy.
